If you live in the Greater Birmingham, Alabama area, you can purchase a low-cost spay/neuter certificate from Friends of Cats and Dogs which can be used at one of several participating area veterinarians.
Purchasing certificates
Certificates can be purchased by mail, from certain participating vets, or through PayPal. The participating vets page indicates which vets sell the certificates(Indian Springs Animal Clinic) in addition to listing vets that accept them. To purchase by mail, make check payable to FCDF for the appropriate amount and mail to: FCDF Attn: Certificates, PO Box 130398, Birmingham, AL 35213
*Also, please write "FOR FEMALE CAT / FOR MALE CAT / FOR FEMALE DOG / FOR MALE DOG" on your check so that it's clear what the check is for. You should receive the certificate in approximately two weeks. Of course, certificates have to be used at one of our participating vets. We recommend contacting the vet you intend to use and let them know that you wish to use our certificates when you set up the appointment. Please inquire about any possible additional charges at that time.

For those living in other parts of the country, we encourage you to contact your local humane shelter. They probably have a similar offer. They may also be able to recommend other sources in your area for low-costs spay/neuter procedures.
